Platinum Jubilee Arch - It has taken a while, but we now have the Arch fitted at the top of the ramp leading to the front doors. Designed to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and fabricated by Anthony Cowling, it now sits on the pillar kindly built by Zach Trump on one side and the wall owned by Rosemary Thorne on the opposite side. Lighting will be shortly provided within the framework, as part of the additional outside lighting planned, following which there will be a ceremony to mark the start of the external enhancement at the front.
Pictured are Anthony leaning against the wall and Zach beside the pillar, after the arch was fixed into place
Monday 2nd October to Wednesday 4th October inclusive
Croft Way car park will be closed completely for tree felling and there will be no vehicular access to the Council car park behind the building
Hirers should use the access via West Street to the Centre during this period, noting that there will be a barrier in place to prevent it being used as a general car park
Please note that we are using a padlocked chain across the car park in order to protect use by Hirers and other authorized users.
Please do not leave any vehicle on the car park unless using the Centre during a hire period, as it will be locked when not being officially used.
CAR PARK
Please note that the car park at the front of the building is muddy because of the considerable quantiry of mud and debris which came down with the water from Jews Lane over the weekend of 16th/17th September
Parking may be available in the Council car park immediately behind the Centre or on the lower level car park off Croft Way, if needed
The Centre was NOT affected by the water and mud and is fully open and functioning.
Thank you for your understanding while we go through insurance to make it properly usable again
Maintenance work at the Centre
We have had some alterations done to the main kitchen, redecoration to some areas and resealing of the floor in the main hall during August
The kitchen work involved removing a number of fixed units, relocating the dishwasher, new handwash basin, additional stainless steel shelving and new stainless units on wheels.
We are pleased that, after fixing an issue relating to the damp proof membrane, the work has now been completed and the kitchen is fully operational again.
Thank you for your understanding whilst this essential work was carried out
